Rev. Glenn A. Luhrs

Pastor Glenn has been in Sterling City since June 2019.  Glenn is a Retired Air Force Veteran and served our country for 21 years.  Glenn has lived and served across the United States, multiple diverse countries, and served with NATO in Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia).  Glenn is from Long Island, NY and was raised outside of Washington DC until he joined the Air Force in 1981.  Pastor Glenn received his call to ministry as a mission and service team leader at First Church in San Angelo.  After graduating with honors (Masters of Divinity with Pastoral Care) from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Pastor Glenn was a Chaplain at Baylor, Scott & White Medical Center in Waco, an intern at Gruene United Methodist Church and Community Pastor at Sabinal United Methodist Church. He was ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church in 2018. Pastor Glenn also has a Masters in Communication from Angelo State and a Bachelors in Information Systems Management from Mercer University. 


Pastor Glenn is married to Amy, who serves the State of Texas as Supervising Attorney for Region 9 in the Department of Family and Protective Services.


Pastor Glenn & Amy have a blended family of 4 children from 31 to 17 years old.  Pastor Glenn enjoys volunteer work, reading at our local elementary school, plays guitar (still learning) walking in the community, biking, and live music.  


Rev. Andy Smith brings 25+ years of pastoral leadership ministry experience to his duties as West District Superintendent. Andy is a gifted servant leader and a preacher's kid...his father is Jerry Jay Smith, a long-time pastor and leader in the former Southwest Texas Conference. Recently, Bishop Schnase returned to his geographical roots after serving as the Missouri Conference bishop since 2004. He and his family have deep roots in our conference. Prior to his election to the episcopacy, Bishop Schnase was a fruitful and beloved local church pastor in several appointments. Bishop Schnase is also a prolific author of numerous books that are widely available and leader of leaders in our connection.
